What Is KA Bond SBR?

KA Bond SBR is a high-specification styrene-butadiene copolymer latex designed specifically for demanding civil engineering and commercial applications where durability is paramount.

It acts as a high-performance polymer admixture and bonding system, significantly enhancing adhesion, durability, and flexural strength in repair mortars, screeds, and external renders.

KA BOND SBR: UNRIVALLED ADHESION & PERFORMANCE

Optimized for civil engineering infrastructure, bridge decks, and industrial flooring. KA Bond SBR is a high-specification styrene-butadiene copolymer latex designed to deliver superior bonding strength and long-term chemical resistance.

  • Exceptional Adhesion: Forms high-strength structural bonds to most construction substrates, including concrete, brick, and steel.
  • Reduced Permeability: Minimizes water absorption and chloride ingress, protecting steel reinforcement from corrosion.
  • Enhanced Flexural Strength: Improves the crack resistance and tensile capacity of thin-section repairs and floor screeds.
  • Superior Durability: Engineered for demanding environments, providing excellent resistance to frost, chemicals, and abrasion.
  • Technical Suitability: Ideal for heavy-duty commercial infrastructure, bridge deck repairs, and high-traffic industrial flooring.
  • Improved Workability: Enhances the cohesive properties of specialty mortar mixes without compromising setting characteristics.

Key Benefits of KA Bond SBR

Structural Adhesion

Greatly improved adhesion to concrete and cementitious substrates for structural bonds.

Enhanced Strength

Significantly higher flexural and tensile strength for robust repairs.

Durable Protection

Reduced permeability and superior crack and shrinkage resistance for long-term durability.

Feather Edging

Allows for high-performance thin-section repairs and reliable feather edges.

Where to Use KA Bond SBR

  • Bonded Screeds: High-performance polymer admixture for superior floor screed adhesion.
  • Concrete Patch Repairs: Durable solution for structural concrete restoration.
  • Infrastructure: Ideal for ramps, access areas, steps, and landings in commercial settings.
  • Edge & Arris Repairs: Precise restoration of damaged corners and transitions.
  • Thin-Section & Feather-Edge: Reliable adhesion even in minimal thickness applications.
  • Civil Engineering: Internal and external projects requiring improved bond and durability.

Dilution & Mixing Guidelines

KA Bond SBR is a liquid polymer typically diluted with clean water and mixed with cement. For high-performance mortars and screeds, KA Bond SBR is dosed based on cement weight. Always use clean mixing equipment and ensure accurate measurement of liquid and powder components to meet project specifications or TDS requirements.

System Ratios

Bonding Slurry: 1 part KA Bond SBR to 3 parts water, plus cement to a creamy consistency.
Mortars & Screeds: Dosed at 5%–20% of cement weight, depending on performance specs.

KA Bond SBR Coverage Guidance

Actual coverage for mortars and screeds will depend on specific mix design and application thickness. For bonding slurries, approximate rates are 0.3–0.4 L KA Bond SBR per m² per coat, though this varies with substrate porosity and profile. Designers and contractors should always refer to the KA Bond SBR TDS and project specification for precise coverage rates.

0.3–0.4 L per m²

Storage & Safety

Storage: Store KA Bond SBR in original containers, tightly closed, in a dry, well-ventilated area between +5°C and +35°C. Protect from frost and direct sunlight. Shelf life: 12 months from date of manufacture when stored correctly.

Safety: KA Bond SBR is a liquid polymer used in cementitious systems which become alkaline when wet. Product may cause irritation. wear suitable protective gloves and eye/face protection at all times during handling and application. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical advice if irritation persists. Do not ingest. Keep out of reach of children.

Full safety information: Users must always refer to the latest KA Bond SBR Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for comprehensive health and safety technical details.
